La Crosse, Wisconsin (WXOW) - New trees will be planted on Barron Island thanks to a grant from the La Crosse Community Foundation.
Ash trees on the island were removed this winter due to the threat of the Emerald Ash Borer.
The City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation, and Forestry department says they will use the $4,280 grant to aid in the reforestation of Barron Island.
No word yet on when that process will start.
