Viterbo to Offer Doctor of Nursing Degree

Posted:

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)  Viterbo University is offering a doctor of nursing program this fall.

It's the first doctoral program for Viterbo.  University President Rick Artman says it will enhance the school's profile while filling a growing need for a higher level of nursing education.

Viterbo's Graduate Nursing Program Director says, "It's a realization that we need to know more.  We need to impact patient outcomes in a more effective way.  We need to be involved at the system level while making improvements in quality and having that impact on patient care."

Earning a bachelor's degree in nursing is about four years.  The masters degree is another three and earning the doctorate will require another year.
