LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)-- The Grand River Singers, La Crosse's adult show choir, put on an invitational for high school groups across the country.
Performances started at 7:30 in the morning. In total, 25 choirs took the stage at Saturday's event. The winning choirs will receive scholarships for their programs.
"Takes me back to me when I was there age," said Rob Jones, director of the Grand River Singers. "There was nothing more that I enjoyed more than being on stage. It lightens my heart to see how much talent is in the La Crosse center today."
And one high school participant, who traveled all the way from Iowa said show choir provides him with a unique opportunity.
"Not a lot of activities you get to go on stage and perform a show that you feel very passionate about," said James Geneser, a member of 10th Street Edition.
The Grand River Singers not only organized and ran the event, but they also performed twice.
