One injured in Monroe County crash

SPARTA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A Camp Douglas man is injured in a one car crash early Monday morning near Oakdale.

In a statement from the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, a Ford Taurus driven by Chad D. Pope, 40, was headed down Funnel Road near Grosbeak Avenue when he lost control of his car and went off the road.

Pope told deputies he was going through his GPS navigation system when he crossed into the other lane of traffic and went into a ditch.  When he did, the car went airborne before hitting a tree.

Pope, who was wearing his seatbelt, was extricated from his car by the Oakdale Fire Department.  He was taken to Tomah Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
