Wisconsin Releases New Tourism Ad

MADISON, Wisconsin (WKOW) - Tourism officials are hoping a familiar face will help "lure" travelers to Wisconsin. The state released a new TV ad Monday (03/18). It features actor Robert Hays playing a befuddled fisherman with the tag line "It doesn't take any special skill to enjoy Wisconsin... Just drop in."

The ad reconnected Hays with his old friend and Wisconsin native David Zucker, who directed Hays in the film "Airplane".

"Now, let me tell you about Robert Hays. Not a good actor, but he shows up on time. he gets his flight. And his trailer is left pristine," joked Zucker At Monday's Governor's Conference on Tourism.

The ad was filmed last June, at Plum Lake in Sayner, Wisconsin. The state Department of Tourism says the industry generates $16-billion every year.
