Rush-Pete ready for another run at State

Rushford, MINNESOTA (WXOW)  The magic of march rolls on Minnesota style this week.

The MSHSL Boys State Basketball Tournament kicks off with a return trip to state for Rushford-Peterson.

The Trojans take on Lakeview Christian Academy in the Class "A" quarterfinals.

The Trojans didn't look like a team that would make it's second trip to state in row.

They lost two of their first three games.

Since then though they've been on a roll, losing just once and capturing the Three Rivers Conference title.

"I think winning the Three Rivers conference gave us a lot of confidence. We tied for first in a conference that was mostly double "A" schools. Winning the conference gave us confidence that we could do well in the "A" section," said head coach Tom Vix.

"It was a big confidence builder. Plainview has won it three years in a row so we figured if we won that we could do well at the state tournament," said junior Seth Thompson.

The Trojans will have to contend with Lakeview's Anders Broman who's averaging a whopping 41 points per game and has scored more than 5,000 points in his high school career.

Tip-off at 1 o'clock at Williams Arena Thursday.
