Fire damages Onalaska home

Posted:

ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW)  - The sound of smoke detectors alerted an Onalaska family that their home was on fire Thursday afternoon.

A spokesman for the department says family members also saw flames in the lower level of the home on Franklin Street in the northern part of Onalaska around 4:30 p.m.

Firefighters put out the fire and did rescue a couple of pet ferrets.

The Red Cross is helping the family with housing at this time due to the damage to the home.

The fire department is still working on their investigation into the cause of the fire.
