LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Dancing is often said to be a source of emotional release, and a lot of dancing took place March 23 at the Concordia Ballroom in La Crosse.
The La Crosse Area Suicide Prevention Initiative hosted a fundraiser there.
Members of the community came to watch area dance groups and learn about resources for people who are struggling with depression, or have been affected by suicide.
"I think that suicide is something that people are not educated about, which is why this organization educates the community. We want people to know about it, we want people to talk about it, we want people to get information about it so they can help themselves or others," volunteer Laura Lee Stigen explained.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to the La Crosse Area Suicide Prevention Initiative to help them promote awareness about suicide and depression.
