Winona St. ready to make a run in the Elite 8

Winona, MINNESOTA (WXOW)  March madness rolls on in Winona where the Winona State Warriors left Tuesday for Louisville and the Division II Elite 8.

This is the school's 4th trip to the Elite 8.

But it's their first trip since 2008.

So this is all new to this year's group.

The Warriors went just 4-4 over their the last 8 games before the division 2 regionals.

Since then they found a groove, winning three straight to get to this point.

"We're going down there and it's great we've made it there but there's a lot more to be done. It's not just that we made it down there and everything's OK. We want to get down there and win two more games and keep this thing rolling," said senior Clayton Vette.

"Personally, it's great. As a team, it's even better. I love those guys in the locker room. We all go to war with each other. We're all best friends off the court. On the court we execute and have fun as well. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else than with these guys," said senior Xavier Humphrey.

Winona State will take on top-ranked West Liberty in Louisville Thursday at 1:30pm.
