LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW/AP) - The children of Eric Koula, the West Salem man convicted last year of killing his parents, will inherit part of their grandparents' estate.

Probate records filed this week in La Crosse County Circuit Court show Eric Koula's two children will split $740,000 when they're older.

The daughter of Dennis and Merna Koula, Cynthia Cowell, will also receive $740,000.

The Koula's named Cowell and Eric Koula as representatives of the estate. During the criminal proceedings against Koula, he was removed as representative by the court.

Koula is serving two life sentences for the deaths of his parents, Dennis and Merna Koula. Prosecutors argued at Koula's 2012 trial that deep debt and floundering day trading career drove him to kill his parents for the inheritance in May, 2010, in their Barre Mills home.

Koula and his family maintain he's innocent.  Following his conviction, his attorneys say they plan to appeal the outcome.
