LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- On April 3rd, local swimmers will try to ride their wave of success at the YMCA National Swimming Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Twelve members of the La Crosse Area Wave swim team have this unique opportunity to make a big splash on one of the biggest stages. Three of them hope to follow up state titles with national success.
This is not new territory for the Wave, but they do bring with them better chances than in previous years. The swimmers now hope their hard work pays dividends.
Kelsey Linzmeyer, a qualifier in four events said, "We've all just been working on our strokes, the strokes we're going to be swimming and just kind of taking it easy and letting all the hard work we did earlier [take over]."
"We're seeded a lot better, have a chance to score some points and do something we haven't done," said Samuel Bowman (200 Freestyle Relay).
"It's just a huge blessing from God that He's given all of us the ability to go fast and just made our bodies that way to give him glory," added Joe Vandermus, also swimming four events. "It's just an awesome way to give Him something back."
The national meet runs April 3rd through the 6th at the Greensboro Aquatic Complex.
