DARLINGTON (WKOW) -- Police in Darlington say a missing 14-year-old has been found safe in Liberal, Kansas.
Adriana Andrade was found with 22-year-old Marcos Mermudez-Sanchez. Investigators say they tracked a cell phone used by Marcos to Kansas on Wednesday. Police in Liberal found the two around 8:15 p.m. and took both into custody.
Officers say Andrade is in good health. She's with police while family members make arrangements to drive to Kansas.
Police say Mermudez-Sanchez is being held on charges of obstructing justice, aggravated interference with custody and aggravated indecent liberties. He will remain in Kansas to face local charges but will also face charges in Wisconsin.
DARLINGTON (WKOW) -- Darlington police say 14-year-old Adriana Andrade is still missing, and has not been seen since early Monday morning.
Police believe the girl left Darlington willingly with 22-year-old Marcos Mermudez-Sanchez. The case is being treated as if Adriana is endangered because police have no way of confirming her safety, as neither individual can be reached.
The Darlington Police Department is currently working with the Wisconsin Department of Justice to utilize their resources at the Department of Criminal Investigation and the Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Chief Jason King states they have cause to believe Adriana and Marcos left the state.
Marcos is considered a suspect in violation of Wis. Stats. 948.31, interference with custody of a child - a Class I felony.
DARLINGTON (WKOW) -- Darlington police are looking for a 22-year-old man in connection with the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl.
Adriana Andrade has been missing since the early morning hours of April 1. Police believe she left Darlington with Marcos Mermudez-Sanchez in a maroon 2000 Chevy Blazer with license plate 389-UWM. They're calling Mermudez-Sanchez a person of interest in the case.
Andrade and Mermudez-Sanchez are white and of Hispanic descent. They are now in the National Crime Information Center and Wisconsin Crime Information Bureau databases. Family and police have tried to reach the pair, but have been unsuccessful.
