MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A federal judge sentences a La Crosse man to 12 years in prison on a drug distribution charge.
31-year-old Allen Smith was arrested in September, 2011 on a charge of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.
He was taken into custody after La Crosse Police and Vernon County investigators set up a sting using an informant and hidden cameras to catch Smith while he operated his drug operation.
According to a release from the U.S. Attorney's office, Judge William Conley reviewed Smith's 43 arrests and 19 convictions during sentencing. He also noted that Smith fathered 7 children by 6 different women, had $19,000 in unpaid child support, never finished high school or a G.E.D, and never held any kind of job.
