St. Croix County (WQOW) - The mother of three young River Falls girls who were killed by their father was back on the witness stand Thursday.
The trial to determine if Aaron Schaffhausen was sane at the time of the murders continued Thursday. Jessica Schaffhausen testified that shortly after learning her children were dead she told police that her ex-husband was psychotic, irrational and crazy.
A former co-worker of Schaffhausen testified Thursday that Aaron talked about wanting to 'off his family,' and to make his ex-wife feel his pain. He was asked if Schaffhausen ever talked about his kids
"I remember it strictly, we were at Taco John's, for lunch and we got on a subject and he had a big smile on his face and he brought up a trip that went on and there was a few good stories that he'd happily tell before they got divorced. But, there was never any stories after the divorce," says Jarrod Klein, a former co-worker of Schaffhausen.
Jurors also heard an audio tape of Schaffhausen repeatedly arguing with and interrupting a police officer who had told him to stop harassing his ex-wife by calling her repeatedly.
