LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - April is Financial Literacy Month and kids in the area have a chance to get an early start learning to balance a bank account.
The new Citizens State Bank exhibit at the Children's Museum of La Crosse opened this weekend.
It's a kid-sized bank that's almost an exact replica of the Citizens State Bank on Main Street downtown.
Kids can work the banker's desk, withdraw money from an ATM, and even use a drive-up window to drop off deposit slips.
"(Kids) coming here will expose them to something they don't see on a daily basis, like maybe I did when I was a child," said Dennis Vogel, president & CEO of Citizens State Bank. "So it gets them excited about it, (asking) their parents questions, and hopefully, as a result, they understand the importance of saving, and also sharing, and the importance of money long-term."
Vogel said with the advancement of technology, kids don't go to the bank as much. So this exhibit will give them hands-on banking experience.
