LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - As we move into severe weather season, both Wisconsin and Minnesota are scheduled to have mock tornado drills on April 18.
While Wisconsin holds only one drill, Minnesota has two scheduled for the day. The first one is set for 1:45 p.m. the same as Wisconsin's. The second takes place at 6:55 p.m. to allow families at home to practice their safety drills. Second shift employees may also do the same.
For the afternoon drill, the National Weather Service will issue a mock tornado watch at 1:00 p.m. At 1:45 p.m., they will issue a mock tornado warning for both states until 2:00 p.m.
Media outlets in both states, which includes WXOW, are participating in the drill.
