LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Without volunteers, the city of La Crosse would not be able to maintain the current level of support to food banks, homeless shelters, restoration of city parks and countless other services.
As a thank you to all of those volunteers who donate so much of their time, Mayor Matt Harter and Mayor-elect Tim Kabat gathered with volunteers from RSVP, Americorps, Habitat For Humanity, and Couleecap at Downtown Mainstreet to join mayors around the country in proclaiming today as the first-ever Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service.
Executive Director of RSVP, Lynetta Kopp said, "Our volunteers, RSVP volunteers, provide over one hundred volunteer hours a year in our community. Which equates out to about $1.8 million dollars in services that are generated in this community."
Kopp added that you should thank a volunteer to show your appreciation for all they do in our community.
