New look Vikings search for repeat

Holmen, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  Eventually, the boys of spring will make their way outdoors to play baseball.

But for now we can only look ahead, which is what the Holmen Vikings are doing after winning the MVC title last season.

The Vikings return 3 starters from that team, but lost co-conference MVP's Taylor Kohlwey and Joe Vike.

They went 22-4 overall last season and came up short in the playoffs and failed to advance to State.

But they feel they have the horses to make another run.

"We're hoping to repeat as always. Every team would want that. But you got the monkey on your back so everyone is shooting for you. We lost a lot of guys but we have a lot of new guys coming up that have a lot to prove so we're just hoping to build on that," said 3rd baseman Andrew Shaw.

"We have a lot of untested people. But I like our kids. We have some good kids, some baseball players that come to practice and work hard. I think we have a decent chance to be successful," said head coach Duane Vike.

Holmen has already had 9 games postponed because of the weather.

They hope to open the season next Monday against Logan.
