Life sentence affirmed in fatal club shooting

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - An appeals court has rejected a Minnesota man's challenge to his life sentence for a fatal club shooting in downtown La Crosse a decade ago.

Michael Alexander argued the trial transcript was flawed, that his attorney was ineffective and that a judge had violated his rights by allowing his lawyer to introduce two witness statements.

A La Crosse County Circuit Court judge denied Alexander's motion for a new sentence. On Thursday, an appeals court upheld that ruling.

The 30-year-old Winona man was convicted in 2004 of fatally shooting Therrick Roberts and injuring two other men after an altercation at the Club Millenium on Third Street in 2003.
