Greyhound Adoption Month

LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW) If you are looking to bring a furry friend into your family, you might want to consider adopting a greyhound.

April is National Greyhound Adoption Month.

Saturday at PetSmart in Onalaska, greyhounds and their owners gathered to promote the breed.

'Greyhound Pets of America' connects the retired race dogs with loving families.

Stephanie Vierling, the Western Wisconsin Greyhound Pets of America representative says that greyhounds are "actually very quite, gentle dogs, I think a lot of people think that they are a real high energy dog but they're actually pretty calm."

Vierling says there are 15 dogs ready to be adopted, including 'Hip Hop'.
