WEST SALEM, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Idling engines will soon roar once again on Saturday nights in West Salem. The La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway gets set for another year of thrilling NASCAR action.
2013 actually marks the 25th year NASCAR will officially sanction races at the Speedway, which enters its 57th year in operation. Through the seasons, a number of drivers have battled for the crown in five different divisions, not to mention the always entertaining novelty races.
Last years late model champion Todd Korish, who won the 2012 title without a single feature win, said it's that kind of racing that makes the Speedway so exciting.
"the racing out here is so tight, you really don't have an advantage over anybody," Korish said. "It's just a matter of luck and just coming back and being as consistent as we were last year. Maybe we'll get a feature win this year instead of going the whole season without."
The Speedway season kicks off next weekend, weather permitting, with the aptly named "Frostbuster" Race.
