Wis. race director expects tighter security

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - The race director of the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon expects road races around the U.S. will rethink security in the wake of the deadly Boston Marathon explosions.

Sean Ryan was in Boston Monday to help with the marathon but was done working before the blast near the finish line.

Ryan says he switched at the last minute from working the finishing line security detail to working with shuttles for runners at the start line.

He says you'd never think a road race would be an attractive target for an apparent terrorist attack, "but today changes all that."

Ryan says other sports events in arenas or stadiums have controlled environments, but "you can't really control 26.2 miles" - the length of a marathon.

The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is May 19.
