Unions seek injunction to block law implementation

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Unions challenging Gov. Scott Walker's law that effectively ended collective bargaining for most public workers are asking a court to issue an injunction to stop implementing portions of the law found to be unconstitutional.

The request was filed in Dane County Circuit Court on Monday.

A judge in the case in September overturned the law as it pertained to school and local government workers in Milwaukee and Madison. It's not clear whether the ruling applied statewide.

The unions' attorney Lester Pines said in a statement Tuesday that Walker's administration is moving forward with preparing rules to implement the void provisions, despite the court's ruling.

A spokeswoman for Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen had no comment on the filing.
