MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A New Lisbon man is charged for filing false income tax returns claiming refunds totaling nearly one million dollars.
43-year-old John Glavin was charged Wednesday in federal court in Madison with two counts of filing false income tax returns.
The U.S. Attorney's office contends Glavin filed returns in 2005 and 2008 claiming refunds totaling more than $956,000. They allege, based on an IRS investigation that Glavin knew the claims were false.
If convicted, each charge against Glavin could bring a maximum five year term.
