LA CRESCENT, MN (WXOW) - A La Crescent family is seeking to raise awareness about an illness Sunday.
"Avery's Wish for Juvenile Diabetes" helped to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Avery had diabetes and died in 2011 but he received care from CMHN.
Today's benefit, which included a 5k run, helped Avery's family and friends remember him.
His step-dad Mark Bell said "this is overwhelming to see this many people here again honoring Avery's memory. We've got a lot of support a lot of family and friends that are here."
Avery's family and friends are hoping to raise 10,000 dollars this year.
