ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Only three weeks ago, UW-La Crosse softball played their first home game of the 2013 regular season. On Sunday, they played their last.
The Eagles took UW-Stevens Point scoreless through the regulation seven innings in game one thanks in a big part to Lauren Beres. The UWL pitcher threw 8.0 shutout innings, allowing 7 hits with 3 strikeouts.
In the bottom of the 8th, La Crosse loaded the bases for Alecia Faber. The Eagles freshman delivered the game-winning base-hit, as UWL took game one 1-0.
La Crosse wasted little time scoring in game two. Alie Meyer blooped a single to right plating the games first run in the 1st inning. Emily Holldorf added another RBI in the 4th to make it 2-0. Still in the 4th, Faber struck again with a double for a 3-0 lead.
UWL completed the sweep with a 6-1 win in the nightcap. They finish the season 20-13 overall (7-8 WIAC). The conference tournament begins Friday, May 3rd.
