LA CRESCENT, Minnesota (WXOW) - Starting Thursday, and for the next three years, drivers on I-90 can expect lane closures as construction of the new bridge across the Mississippi River gets underway.
On May 2, crews will start crossovers on this first phase of the bridge project.
Both the Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation are cooperating on the building of the $187.5 million project.
The bridge will replace the current crossing when its done. Crews are also remaking the Highway 61/14/I-90 interchange on the Minnesota side of the bridge.
