HOLMEN, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Holmen Locker & Meat Market in Holmen is voluntarily recalling more than 380 pounds of teriyaki cured and smoked beef. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection made the announcement Monday (04/29). They say it contains wheat that is not listed on the label.
The recalled product was sold by the stick or in packages of varying weight as specified by the customer. It will have a packed-on date of 10-4-13 through 4-26-13, and bears the Wisconsin mark of inspection that says "est. 83." It was sold only at the company's retail store in Holmen.
Wheat may cause a serious reaction in people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to it. So far, no illnesses have been reported from consuming this product.
Symptoms in people with a wheat allergy may include swelling, itching or irritation of the mouth, nose, throat, eyes and skins; difficulty breathing; cramps, nausea or vomiting; diarrhea; or anaphylaxis. While most people do not have food allergies, anyone who eats a specific food and experiences symptoms should consult a doctor.
