LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A La Crosse restaurant is heavily damaged in a fire Wednesday afternoon.
Photos from the scene from WXOW viewers during the fire show heavy black smoke from the Super Buffet at 206 Copeland Avenue.
Crews were called to the restaurant shortly before 4:30 p.m.
La Crosse Fire Chief Gregg Cleveland said that the building posed problems for firefighters given the age and design of the building. Chief Cleveland said remodeling to the building over the years left open areas that can help spread the fire. Crews needed to cut into the roof above and attack the fire from below in order to put it out.
No one was injured in the fire
The department is investigating the cause of the fire.
The restaurant's location on Copeland Avenue near Rose and Monitor Streets meant afternoon traffic was disrupted by the fire and fire crews.
