Western Wisconsin (Xcel Energy) - Xcel Energy crews continue to repair electrical system damage caused by wet, heavy snow, which brought down overhead power lines and tree limbs.
There are many reports of downed wires and customers are reminded to stay away and report downed wires to Xcel Energy at 1-800-895-1999. There are widespread outages in western and northern Wisconsin including Hudson, Spring Valley, Amery, Birchwood, Hayward, Menomonie and Ashland.
We have brought in crews from throughout Xcel Energy's service area, and neighboring utilities, to assist in restoration efforts and expect to make significant progress today. We anticipate having most customers restored to service by tonight, but due to continuing weather factors and hazardous road conditions all customers are not expected to be restored until end of the day Friday, May 3.
Western Wisconsin (Press Release from Xcel Energy) - Crews have been working throughout the early morning hours to fix damages caused by heavy, wet snow across our northwestern Wisconsin serving area including Spring Valley, Menomonie, Hudson, Amery, Rice Lake and Hayward.
We have received numerous reports of downed power lines and broken trees in power lines. At this time, 9,700 customers are without service. We are assessing damages and will provide an estimated restoration time as soon as one becomes available. For your safety, please stay away from any downed lines or poles. Eau Claire (WQOW) - Xcel Energy is reporting widespread power outages across the western part of the state. The wet heavy snow falling across the area is bringing down tree branches and power lines.
