Walker says there will be more money for schools

MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Gov. Scott Walker says there will be additional money available for public schools and cutting taxes in his budget, but he doesn't know exactly how much yet.

Gov. Walker reiterated Monday that he wants to tap some of the money held in reserve by the University of Wisconsin System to benefit public K-12 schools and cut taxes.  Gov. Walker also supports a UW tuition freeze.

Gov. Walker says details of how much money would be available remain in flux.

New estimates of how much money the state will be collecting in taxes are due to be released this week.  If projections improve as expected, more money will be available for other spending.

Gov. Walker says he is still talking with UW officials and he doesn't know when his new budget proposal will be released.
