Nygren promises more money for schools

MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - One of the co-chairs of the Legislature's budget committee says public school spending will be allowed to increase over the next two years, even though Gov. Scott Walker wanted to keep it frozen.

Rep. John Nygren said Wednesday details of how additional money would be made available to schools remains under discussion. But he says there will be an increase in the revenue limit, which will allow schools to increase spending.

Walker has said he wants to give schools more money, but he hasn't promised it would go toward the revenue limit as schools have been lobbying for.

Nygren says additional money could go toward raising the revenue limit, more state aid and other credits.

Nygren says Republicans are also committed to additional tax cuts.
