La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) The UW-La Crosse baseball team picked up a crucial doubleheader sweep over UW-Stout Wednesday, winning game one 9-3 and then game two 5-4.
In game one, the Eagles took the lead for good with 2 runs in the 5th inning.
Every UW-L starter had at least one hit and six players had two hits has UW-L pounded out 15 total.
La Crescent, MN graduate Tim Verthein picked up the win.
In Game two, Taylor Kohlwey's two-out run-scoring single brought home what turned out to be the winning run in the 5-4 win.
Kohlwey had two runs batted in for the game.
Four Eagles had two hits.
Jake Stern picked up the win and Skyler Debilzen got the save, recording the last out when Stout had runners on 2nd and 3rd.
The sweep wins the Eagles earn the #4 seed in the WIAC Tournament and will play the top seed, UW-Whitewater in the opening round.
