LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – Female volunteers from Habitat for Humanity picked up a paint brush as part of National Women Build Week.
The event encourages women to help build affordable housing.
Saturday, a few volunteers took part in the month-long ReNEW Powell-Hood-Hamilton project.
They said they'll continue their construction efforts throughout the summer by helping build a home on Denton Street.
"I am kind of am an empowering woman. I like to do things on my own. It's nice to have other woman who are collaborating with you and giving our strengths to what we do," said Habitat for Humanity volunteer Heather Suby.
National Women Build Week is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity.
It's typically held in the week leading up to Mother's Day.
