MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (WXOW) -- The big question that lingered over fans was will this stadium have a retractable roof or be open air. They got there answer Monday straight from the architect who said, "clear is the new retractable," Designer Bryan Trubey of Dallas-based HKS Architects.
The plans were unveiled to the hundreds in attendance at the Guthrie Theater. The stadium is set to have 65,000 seats and up to 73,000 for a Superbowl. It's a moment fans have been waiting for since the stadium bill passed last summer.
"All of us were down at the capitol a year ago at this time. And it's a long time in the making," explained Kyle Nogursky of Zimmerman.
The Metrodome has been the Vikings home for 31 years. And the team will hope to be playing inside the new billion dollar stadium for the 2016 season.
Here is a list of stadium specifications posted to the Vikings website shortly after the unveiling.
