Poll shows 51 pct approve of Wis. governor's job

MILWAUKEE (AP) - A Marquette University law school poll released Tuesday says 51% of respondents approve of the way Gov. Scott Walker is doing his job, while 45% disapprove.

The poll questioned 717 respondents. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.4%age points.

One big issue for Walker has been the economy. He campaigned in 2010 on a pledge to add 250,000 private-sector jobs in his first term.

Forty-nine percent of respondents said they believe Wisconsin is lagging behind other states in creating jobs, while 9% said they think the state is creating jobs faster than others. Thirty-five percent say Wisconsin is on pace with other states in creating jobs.

The poll questioned 717 respondents. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.4%age points.
