Holmen, WISCONSIN (WXOW) The Holmen boys golf team is ready to take it's regular season momentum into the post-season.
The Vikings captured their first out-right MVC title Monday since 1996.
They won 4 of the 6 18-hole conference meets this spring to secure the title, which also ended Onalaska's 11-year reign.
But the success comes as no surprise considering this team took second at state in a very competitive division one field last year.
"The past couple of years it's just been experience. The kids get down there and they want to get down there again. Like any other sport that you practice for all year it's the pinnacle of the season," said head coach Paul Laxton.
"I think it's just the experience once you get down there. It's such a surreal environment. It actually got pretty intense last year with us at the top and taking second. So I feel like that's our motivation for getting through the year," said junior Drew Schroeder.
Holmen is ranked 7th in the state in the latest poll.
