LACROSSE, WISCONSIN (WXOW) - Memorial Day weekend is one of the busiest travel times of the year. So as you and your family prepare to hit the road, the Car Care Council has a few tips on how to make your journey a safe one.
The council recommends scheduling a tune-up to help your engine deliver better power and fuel economy while reducing its emission level. The council also says to check the brake system and check to see if the battery connection is clear, tight and corrosion-free.
Further tips include checking filters and fluids, including your car's engine oil, coolant and transmission fluid, and checking hoses and belts to see if they are cracked or loose.
Don't forget about your tires, as under inflated tires reduce gas mileage and may cause the need for wheel alignment.
