MILTON (WKOW) -- Milton police say there is a potentially dangerous competition that the local high school student are engaging in.
Students are competing in a "Nerf Gun War". The object is to "shoot" other participants with a Nerf gun bullet. Once someone is struck, they are eliminated from the game.
The real danger is students are firing in traffic at moving vehicles, furthermore, breaking into homes in the middle of the night to shoot participants as they sleep. Police caution students, saying these acts could be considered criminal and there is great risk involved when breaking into unknown dwellings. Owners could arm themselves out of fear of a true burglary taking place.
Milton police are also asking parents to speak with their kids about the very real dangers involved.
