Luther, Central advance to softball Sectionals

La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  It was a good day to be a number one seed in the WIAA Softball Regionals.

Onalaska Luther won an epic battle with rival Arcadia 9-8 to win their division 3 regional.

Arcadia built an 8-0 lead only to see it evaporate over the final three innings.

Mariah Schultz had a two-run home run to start the comeback.

Arcadia still led 8-4 entering the bottom of the 7th but Eliza Dobbe drilled a two-run single to cut the lead to 8-7.

Then with two runners on and two outs Miriam Beagle lofted a fly ball to left that was misplayed allowing the tying and winning runs to score.

Luther ended the regular season as the top-ranked team in the state in division 3.

They will play Mineral Point next.

Central took down DeForest 10-2 at the Shelby Fields.

The Red Raiders scored 9 runs in the second inning.

Kelsey Rox had two doubles and 2 runs batted in.

Topanga Skiles struck out 8 and walked none to pick up the win.

Central will play top-seeded Sun Prairie next Tuesday.
