La Crosse, WI (WXOW)- A La Crosse man now faces federal charges after his arrest on drug charges in April.
Police arrested 30-year-old Jonathan Banaszkiewicz after a drug investigation at 615 Jackson Street. During that investigation, they observed Banaszkiewicz, who was the target in the investigation, run from the scene as officers and investigators attempted to make contact with him.
During the short foot chase Banaszkiewicz was observed throwing a handgun onto the ground. He was taken into custody approximately 25-30 yards from the start of the foot chase. The weapon was a Browning Buckmark .22 handgun. Upon searching Jonathan's person, investigators located 11 separate gem bags of methamphetamine with a total weight of 5.2 grams at an estimated value of $600. He also had 8 pills of dextroamphetamine and $270 in cash on his person.
During execution of the search warrant in the home, the listed items were located; 31.7 grams of marijuana, $63.00 currency, 2 hydrocodone pills, 5 other unknown pills, numerous drug paraphernalia items (7 digital scales, numerous class pipes, 4 cell phones and numerous gem bags).
Banaszkiewicz now faces federal drug and weapon charges.
In the same drug raid, police also arrested 49-year-old John Irvin on a charge of marijuana possession.
