ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Good basketball for a great cause? That's what you get when you combine a fundraiser for the MACC Fund with some of the coulee region's best basketball talent.
On Monday, as a tune-up for Saturday's State All-Star Game, the Division 2 North All-Stars battled the Division 3 North All-Stars at Onalaska's Deeth Fieldhouse. All proceeds from ticket sales went to the fight against childhood cancer.
It ended up being a no-holds barred throwdown on the court as well. Tim Wagner (GET) led the D3 Stars with 11 points while teammate Bronson Koenig (Aquinas) added 10 of his own. The leading local scorer, however, would be Sawyer Smith (Central) who had 15 points for the D2 Stars. Matt Thomas (Onalaska) also contributed 10 points.
The D2 team went on to win the exhibition game 100-76. Organizers estimated more than $1,500 was raised for the MACC Fund.
