Eau Claire (WQOW) - Mayo Clinic patients now have a new way to access their personal health information.
Patients can now set up a free, online account. It's a way to check things like lab results, current medication lists, and upcoming appointments. Mayo Clinic Health System says this gives people another option besides calling, and it's easy to find the information you're looking for, because there are no business hours to work around.
The online service is available to patients at all Mayo Clinic Heath System locations. There is a special feature for patients in northwest Wisconsin. They have the ability to securely message their healthcare provider with any questions that might come up.
"A really great example might be a patient who perhaps might be experiencing a complication from a medication or a side effect. In that case the patient could ask that simple question of their doctor, such as "Doctor, I'm on my Synopril, I've developed a cough. Is this normal?" The doctor would then be able to respond to the patient providing instructions and information about their symptom," says Lori Miller, the Director of Population Health at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire
