LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—The former May's Photo building in La Crosse is getting a new look.
Councilman James Cherf bought the building at 425 Main Street downtown; it was the scene of a double murder last September.
Cherf wants to restore the appearance to more of it's original look.
He plans to divide space into two stores and wants to lease it out to new businesses.
On top of the businesses, Cherf is building two luxury apartments that have already sparked some interest.
"That will give additional living space to our growing downtown neighborhood," Cherf said. "This is a terrific and dynamic community to live and work and even enjoy yourself in."
He said is anxious to get the paper off the windows and hopes to have renovations complete by September.
