LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)—The Sixth Annual Freedom Fest is Saturday at UW-La Crosse.
The featured musical acts are Chicago and Daughtry.
Organizers expect 6,500 people.
Set up is under way at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
It takes 400 people, three days to set up for the show.
They laid 35,000 square feet of tile on top of the football field's turf to make way for the stage.
Other people set up table and chairs for the VIP area.
Once they get the physical work done, they have to hang up signs and lay out beverages.
It's a lot of work, but Pat Stephens, Freedom Fest Chair, said he does it because it's a good cause.
"All the proceeds from Freedom Fest go to veteran's causes," Stephens said. "One for the scholarships, for veterans. After they complete their military obligation they come back, go to school and the scholarship is given out each year. We've given out about $80,000 in scholarships."
This year Freedom Fest will be checking bags at the door for security reasons.
The opening ceremony is Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and at 9:00 its music the band Chicago.
