Dogs Rescued From Oklahoma

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - When you think of the tornados in Oklahoma, you think of the people affected by the destruction. While many relief efforts are underway, there is also a need for the pets displaced by the storm. Ruff Life Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding homes for dogs in need. They just returned from a trip to Oklahoma where they rescued about 12 dogs.

Janelle Parcher, owner of Funk on Rose street just adopted one of the rescued dogs and told us that the shelters in Oklahoma are overloaded. She said, "We're taking the dogs that were owner surrendered or were already in the shelters and there is a system in place through the shelters where the dogs that are homeless because of the disaster are going to be placed in their own home eventually."

If you would like to help, the group needs cash donations, gas cards, Petco gift cards, bottled water, and dog supplies, especially leashes and blankets.

For more information you can find them on facebook at Ruff Life Rescue.
