EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Talk about parity. No one in the Northwoods League South is running away with the division lead as the end of the season's first half draws ever closer.
Right there at the top once again are the La Crosse Loggers. At 11-7 entering Sunday, the Loggers stand tied with Lakeshore for the South Division lead.
They looked to stay right there and win the rubber-match Sunday evening with the Eau Claire Express.
The Loggers struck first in the second inning. Austin Rei chopped a bases loaded single to left scoring a pair of runs to make it a 2-0 La Crosse lead. They plated two more when the next batter, Mike Nadratawski, blasted a triple to the right-center gap.
Eau Claire fought back in the 6th. Chane Lynch launched a triple to the left-center gap with two men on base. Both runs scored to keep the Express within striking distance.
La Crosse, however, had an answer for every run Sunday night. Johnny Bekakis knocked a triple of his own into right scoring three more runs propelling the Loggers to a 10-4 win.
The Lumbermen improve to 12-7 with the win. They return to Copeland Park on Monday night to start a home-away series with Wisconsin Rapids.
