Eau Claire officials pull body from Chippewa River

EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WQOW) -  Eau Claire Dive and Rescue crews have pulled a body from the Chippewa River. A phone call from a canoeist to Eau Claire came in around 5:50 Monday (06/17) night.
The canoeist spotted what they believed was a body not far from the Short Street Bridge. The Eau Claire Fire Department then launched a boat and about 40 minutes later, the body was found about a quarter mile downstream from the bridge.
UW-Eau Claire Police are in charge of the investigation.  They are working to make a positive identification and say an autopsy will be done.
Eau Claire Police say no new missing persons reports have been filed in recent days or weeks.
They say the last report that remains an open case was filed in April when UW-EC student, David Rodgers, disappeared after going into the water.
