SPARTA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Monroe County Sheriff's deputies, as well as officers from Sparta and Tomah plan to be out in force on June 27.
The agencies are participating in a Speed Wave effort that's focusing on seatbelt and speeding violations according to Sgt. Jeffrey Leis of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Sgt. Leis describes the deployment as a "high visibility traffic enforcement" in the Towns of Angelo, Wells, and Ridgeville for four hours on the 27th. The goal is to achieve zero deaths on the state's roads he said.
In the past, Leis said their efforts led to 30 speeding tickets, 22 seatbelt citations, and 10 arrests on various charges.
