UPDATE -- Eau Claire Police say no new missing persons reports have been filed in recent days/weeks. They say the last missing persons report that remains an open case was filed in April when David Rodgers, a UWEC student, disappeared after going into the river.
A canoeist made the call to Eau Claire Police around 5:50 p.m. on Monday. The body was discovered 40 minutes later about a quarter mile downstream from the bridge.
Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire Police say a body has been pulled out of the Chippewa River.
Police say canoeists spotted what they believed was a body on Monday not far from the Short Street Bridge. The Eau Claire Fire Department then launched a boat and recovered the body. There's no word on an identity.
